Dragonair Passengers Offered the Option to Secure Seats with Additional Legroom

(HONG KONG) Dragonair is to offer its passengers the option to secure seats with extra legroom in its Economy Class cabins by paying an additional charge. These seats were previously only open for reservation by Marco Polo Club members of a certain level and those passengers in the highest booking classes, but soon they will be open for booking in advance by all passengers who meet specific safety requirements. From December 1, 2009, Dragonair passengers will be able to secure an extra-legroom seat on Bengaluru flights by paying US$100 or redeeming 20,000 Asia Miles per sector. From January 1, 2010, passengers can also secure these seats on flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou as well as to non-Mainland regional destinations by paying US$25 or 5,000 Asia Miles.

Air China Opens Chengdu - Hefei - Seoul Route

Air China launched the new Chengdu - Hefei - Seoul (return flight) route. Flights depart from Chengdu at 08:20; Hefei at 11:20. Return flights depart from Seoul at 15:25 local time; Hefei at 17:45. Flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Hefei is located at Anhui Province in China. Anhui has 208 sites classified as A-class National Tourist Zones, which include 2 AAAAA zones (Huangshan and Jiuhuashan) and 42 AAAA zones. Known for its rich cultural heritage, Anhui Province has a large number of historical and cultural monuments. Huangshan, Jiuhuashan and Huangmei Opera, as well as other famous sites, have attracted more than ten million domestic and foreign visitors annually to the beautiful and charming Anhui. By opening the new route, Air China continues to provide passengers with more and better flight services. Chengdu will also be used as a hub where passengers can enjoy additional transfer services.

Dragonair Introduces Special Inflight Crab Roe Menu

(HONG KONG) Dragonair has introduced a special crab roe seasonal menu to mark the annual hairy crab season. The new crab dishes are now being served to First Class passengers on outbound flights from Hong Kong to Shanghai and Beijing until the end of November. Dragonair inflight catering team works closely with its catering provider and well-known restaurants in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Mainland to introduce new dishes for passengers to enjoy the authentic taste of Asian-style food. The hairy crab season is eagerly anticipated by food connoisseurs every year and Dragonair is offering a series of special dishes featuring crab roe this month. The new crab roe menu features popular crab dishes including Crab Roe with Steamed Egg White and Bean Curd, E-fu Noodle in Soup with Crab Roe, Crab Meat and Shrimp, Crab Roe, Crab meat and Fish Maw in Broth, Steamed Crab Roe and Pork Dumpling, and Stuffed Scallop with Prawn Mousse topped with Crab Roe Sauce.

Singapore Airlines Begins Daily A380 Service To Melbourne

The inaugural Singapore Airlines A380 service bound for Melbourne, the capital city of the Australian state of Victoria, took off from Singapore Changi Airport last evening and touched down at Melbourne Airport early this morning. With 453 customers on board the 471-seat double-decker aircraft, SQ227 departed Singapore at 2100hrs and arrived in Melbourne at around 0545hrs this morning, 25 minutes ahead of schedule. The A380 will embark on its return journey with over 450 customers on board, departing Melbourne at 1550hrs and touching down in Singapore at 2140hrs. Melbourne is the second Australian city and sixth city in Singapore Airlines’ network to receive the A380. Singapore Airlines currently operates 21 weekly flights between Singapore and Melbourne, including the daily A380 service. “The A380 continues to be extremely popular with our customers, as we see very positive booking response for our scheduled A380 services between Singapore and Melbourne. Since the start of its operation in October 2007, the A380 has carried more than 1.8 million customers on more than 4600 commercial flights. Our A380 customers tremendously enjoy the quiet cabin ambience, our innovative inflight products and gracious service delivered by our cabin crew. On routes with multiple daily frequencies operated with different aircraft, many of our customers will specifically choose the service that is operated by this clean and green superjumbo,” said Mr. Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions.

Continental Airlines Nears Finalization On Star Alliance

Within the last 48 hours, Continental has entered into bilateral commercial agreements with all of the existing 24 Star Alliance members. These agreements define the business relationships underpinning the Star Alliance brand and services, including reciprocal earning and redemption of frequent flyer miles. In addition, Continental has signed code-sharing agreements with four Star Alliance members -- United, Lufthansa, Air Canada and bmi. Code-sharing with additional airlines in Star Alliance will be implemented in the coming months.
