Dragonair Appoints New Head of Corporate Communication

(HONG KONG) Dragonair announced the appointment of Ms Grace Lee as its new Head of Corporate Communication. Ms Lee, who took up the post on January 4, is responsible for the operation and strategic direction of the airline’s network-wide corporate communication, including all public and media relations, public affairs and corporate social responsibility programmes. Prior to taking up her new position, Ms Lee was Marketing Director for the Hong Kong Design Centre, responsible for raising the importance and awareness of design among businesses and the general public through diversified communication channels, and the marketing of Hong Kong’s design expertise worldwide.

Holiday season travel reminder

Due to the holiday peak season between 21 and 31 December 2009, long queues are expected at baggage safety inspection points. Customers are advised to check in early to allow sufficient time for baggage inspection and arrive on time at the departure gates.

Dragonair Passengers Offered the Option to Secure Seats with Additional Legroom

(HONG KONG) Dragonair is to offer its passengers the option to secure seats with extra legroom in its Economy Class cabins by paying an additional charge. These seats were previously only open for reservation by Marco Polo Club members of a certain level and those passengers in the highest booking classes, but soon they will be open for booking in advance by all passengers who meet specific safety requirements. From December 1, 2009, Dragonair passengers will be able to secure an extra-legroom seat on Bengaluru flights by paying US$100 or redeeming 20,000 Asia Miles per sector. From January 1, 2010, passengers can also secure these seats on flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou as well as to non-Mainland regional destinations by paying US$25 or 5,000 Asia Miles.

Dragonair Introduces Special Inflight Crab Roe Menu

(HONG KONG) Dragonair has introduced a special crab roe seasonal menu to mark the annual hairy crab season. The new crab dishes are now being served to First Class passengers on outbound flights from Hong Kong to Shanghai and Beijing until the end of November. Dragonair inflight catering team works closely with its catering provider and well-known restaurants in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Mainland to introduce new dishes for passengers to enjoy the authentic taste of Asian-style food. The hairy crab season is eagerly anticipated by food connoisseurs every year and Dragonair is offering a series of special dishes featuring crab roe this month. The new crab roe menu features popular crab dishes including Crab Roe with Steamed Egg White and Bean Curd, E-fu Noodle in Soup with Crab Roe, Crab Meat and Shrimp, Crab Roe, Crab meat and Fish Maw in Broth, Steamed Crab Roe and Pork Dumpling, and Stuffed Scallop with Prawn Mousse topped with Crab Roe Sauce.

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair’s Frequent Flyers Enjoy Faster Immigration Clearance Through Frequent Visitor E-channels

Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair today announced that frequent flyer visitors who are members of the airlines’ Marco Polo Club can now enjoy quicker and more convenient immigration clearance at Hong Kong International Airport. Effective from 7 September 2009, eligible Marco Polo Club members can pass more quickly through immigration using the Frequent Visitor e-Channels. This is a convenient self-service clearance facility where travellers do not need to fill in arrival or departure cards and the clearance process is streamlined. The service is now available to all Marco Polo Club Silver tier and above members who must be aged 18 and above, in possession of valid travel documents and a multiple-visit visa for Hong Kong (if such a visa is required)

Dragonair to Launch New Service to Guangzhou in September

(HONG KONG) Dragonair today announced that it will launch a new service to Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong and the biggest city in the fast-growing Pearl River Delta region, on September 14. The twice-daily service, to be operated by A320 and A321 aircraft, will provide passengers travelling between Hong Kong and Guangzhou with more choice and convenience. At the same time the new flights will offer improved connectivity via Hong Kong to the rest of the world, further enhancing Hong Kong’s status as one of the world's premier international aviation hubs.

Fung Wong axes 12 flights to Taiwan

About 12 flights between Hong Kong and Taiwan have been cancelled and five are delayed as a powerful typhoon Fung Wong strikes Taiwan. Up to 1 pm, the cancellations include six flights between Hong Kong and Kaohsiung, four flights between Hong Kong and Taipei, and two flights between Hong Kong and Taichung.
