Transaero Jet in Near Collision

A Transaero jumbo jet and a Delta Air Lines plane were one minute from colliding when at least one of the planes turned away from the other over the Atlantic Ocean last week. Emirates plane makes forced landing at Budapest Airport

A United Arab Emirates Airline Boeing 777-300 made an emergency landing after midnight Wednesday at Budapest's international airport after smoke was detected in the cockpit, local media reported. The airplane carrying 380 passengers was flying from London to Dubai when sensors in the cockpit gave a warning of smoke, the airport's press and business relations officer Mihaly Hardy said.

Cathay Pacific plane lands safely in Vancouver after damage

OTTAWA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- A Cathay Pacific jetliner landed safely at Vancouver International Airport Tuesday after part of its surface structures were damaged, Canada's Transportation Safety Board said. An exterior panel that covered the air conditioning unit on the belly of the Boeing 747-400 came away from the fuselage and damaged other panels as the plane was descending into the Vancouver airport, officials said. The damage did not have any detrimental effect on the flight of the aircraft, they said.

Qantas says no danger after plane aborts flight

MELBOURNE, Australia (AFP) ¡ª Passengers aboard a Qantas jet that was forced to abort a domestic flight after a landing gear door failed to retract were never in any danger, the airline said Tuesday. A Boeing 737-800 of the Australian airline was forced back to Adelaide airport shortly after take-off late Monday, in an air safety scare that came just three days after a Qantas jumbo jet was involved in a mid-air drama. "Qantas flight 692 operating between Adelaide and Melbourne performed a routine 'air turn-back' shortly after take-off, due to an indication of one of the landing gear doors failing to retract," a spokeswoman told AFP.
