Passengers injured on flight to Albany International

Two people were taken to Albany Medical Center after they were injured on a flight from Cleveland to Albany. Airport officials say the aircraft encountered severe turbulence during the flight. Albany International Airport Operations reported that Express Jet Airlines Flight #2769, operated as Continental Express, first reported the turbulence about 40 miles west of Albany International Airport. The crew notified the Air Traffic Control Tower which in turn notified the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Department to stage for the arrival of the aircraft. The aircraft, a two engine regional jet, landed at approximately 1:45 p.m. today.

Airlines Announce Additional Schedule Changes Due To Winter Storm

n anticipation of the winter storm hitting central North Carolina, Delta/Northwest Airlines and Southwest Airlines will cancel all departures from Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Saturday, Jan. 30. Earlier today, airlines serving RDU canceled nearly all early morning arrivals and departures to and from RDU. Travelers with plans this weekend are advised to contact their airline to check the status of their flight or to rebook if canceled. Plane Makes Emergency Landing At DIA After Disturbance

DENVER -- A United Airlines flight from Washington D.C. to Las Vegas made an emergency stop in Denver on Saturday evening after a disturbance by a passenger on board. Jeff Green, spokesman for DIA, said United Flight 223 landed at around 5:10 p.m. at the airport after the pilot radioed that there was a disturbance onboard.

Data Suggests Crew in Denver Crash Failed to Respond to Wind Gusts

The pilots of a Continental Airlines jet apparently failed to respond properly last December when their speeding plane veered off the side of a runway in high winds and crashed at Denver International Airport, according to information gathered by federal accident investigators. Summaries of interviews and other data released Friday by the National Transportation Safety Board suggest that the cockpit crew of Continental Flight 1404 was slow to react, and then seemingly made some missteps, as the Boeing 737 hurtled off the runway while accelerating for takeoff in a stiff crosswind. There were no fatalities but 37 people sustained injuries, including the captain.

United Airlines computer glitch cancels flights here; are you stranded?

United Airlines flights were back on time this afternoon at Austin Straubel International Airport in Ashwaubenon after a computer outage at Chicago's O'Hare Airport grounded the airline's flights. A 12:48 p.m. United arrival and a 1:23 p.m. United departure were canceled today at Outagamie County Regional Airport. “While we immediately work to fix it, flights are delayed and some may be canceled,” the airline said in a statement. “We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience and recommend they allow for extra time at the airport and use united.com to check flight status and check-in.”

Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing Safely

A Delta flight from Atlanta to Ontario, California landed without any major problems after mechanical trouble forced the crew to shut down the right engine. Flight 1973, a Boeing 757 which is a twin-engine short-to-medium-range jetliner, landed at the Ontario Airport. shortly after midnight EDT Wednesday. There were 190 people on board. A Delta spokesman told 11Alive News the company will not speculate what caused the engine problem and is investigating.

Plane Reported Hydraulic Pressure Problem

A United Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Pittsburgh International Airport on Friday afternoon after the pilot reported a hydraulic pressure problem, according to an FAA representative. Flight 615 from Washington, D.C., to Chicago landed in Pittsburgh without incident and all of the passengers were removed from the plane safely. A spokesperson for Sen. Roland Burris said the senator and White House aide Desiree Rogers were on the flight.

A Southwest Airlines flight makes a safe landing at a Houston airport Tuesday moments before a tire catches fire. The plane landed at the airport without incident right before flames appeared under the wing. An airline spokesman says the tire blew and caught fire. Passengers were evacuated by sliding down the emergency chute. They made it safely back to the terminal and crews brought the fire under control.

Captain's Training Faulted In Air Crash That Killed 50

The captain of a commuter plane that crashed Feb. 12 near Buffalo, N.Y., had flunked numerous flight tests during his career and was never adequately taught how to respond to the emergency that led to the airplane's fatal descent, according to people close to the investigation. All 49 people aboard were killed, as well as one person in a house below, when the plane crashed just a few miles short of the Buffalo airport en route from Newark, N.J. The Bombardier Q400 turboprop in the crash, which will be the subject of a National Transportation Safety Board hearing Tuesday, was operated by commuter carrier Colgan Air Inc., a division of Pinnacle Airlines Corp.

Frankfurt - Heavy turbulence during a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Lisbon injured 10 people and forced the plane to land in Switzerland. Alaska Airlines said it canceled flights out of Anchorage International Airport after Mount Redoubt erupted again, prompting authorities to shut down the airstrip for fear of volcanic ash.

Turkish Airlines Crashed Due to Faulty Altimeter

The Turkish Airlines flight that crashed last week, killing nine people, close to the Amsterdam airport is said by authorities to have had a faulty altimeter, which shut down the engine. They said that similar shutdowns occurred two other times with the same plane, and the pilots overruled them.
